Welcome to ECOL592: Introduction to R!
We'll use this website to upload the exercises that we'll go over in class as well as the home assignments. The plan is to make this class as interactive as possible, so it will be in your best interest to come to class with your personal computer and with that day's class notes downloaded and ready to run (the "script" file that I'll upload a few days ahead of each class). Feel free to leave questions about the material here (to facilitate discussion), or email me at mikoontz at gmail dot com.
You can download R from here: http://cran.cnr.berkeley.edu/
The current version is R 3.0.2 "Frisbee Sailing" which was released only 3 months ago, so be sure to upgrade to this version if it has been a while since you've downloaded R.
If you have a Mac, the regular R program provides a nice interface, but it has been recommended to me by PC users that RStudio offers a better user experience for Windows. RStudio is also available for MacOSX if you prefer. You can find RStudio here: http://www.rstudio.com/
We will meet at 9am every Tuesday in Plant Science E008 (the east wing of the basement).
Again, this class is supposed to be participatory and interactive, so be ready to ask and answer a lot of questions!
